+ The difference between Glow Save and price comparison sites

Price comparison sites offer tariff lists for you to compare. They take up to £60 in commission for each switch, which you still have to do. Glow Save finds your best tariffs every year and prosesses your switches for you. Unlike similar services we are not paid by suppliers and only work for you.

+ Phony savings

Most suppliers and comparison sites calculate your current fixed rate by:

Multiplying your remaining contract months at your existing rate, and adding the additional months needed to estimate your annual consumption at the default, more expensive standard variable rate. This overestimates your existing tariffs cost and enables them to claim large but unfortunately phoney savings when they switch you.

These savings are misleading as you do not save the amount claimed. We compare your actual 12 month fixed rate to the new best rate, and calculate your real savings. Simple.

+ The difference between Glow Save and switching sites

Most switching sites are owned by price comparison sites. They often only provide tariffs from a limited number of suppliers who have paid to feature. Glow Save is 100% independent which means we can access every rate in the market. As we are not paid by suppiers we only work for you.

  • Standard single rate - profile class 01 / general domestic / GD
  • Economy 7 - profile class 02 (different day and night rates)

Smart meters normally stop working when you switch suppliers. We will tell you how you can take a manual reading which is super easy.

+ Additional tariffs types we can switch you to

We can switch you to green / renewable tariffs if you let us know at sign up. Alternatively please email admin@glowsave.com and we will select a green tariff for you at your next switch. Please note these are more expensive than standard tariffs.

If you have a feed-in tariff (eg. solar panels) we can still switch your standard energy tariffs. Feed-in tariffs pay you the same rate for 20 years so there is no need for us to switch your feed-in tariff. Any questions just ask.

+ Tariffs types we can't switch you to

Unfortunately we can't switch you if you receive Warm Home Discounts.

+ I am a tenant, landlord, or have multiple properties

Tenants

If your pay for electricity or gas through a meter we support we would be happy to switch you. It is your energy supply.

Landlords

For domestic tariffs we can help save you time and money for each address. Please contact us for further information and we will do everything we can to help.

Multiple properties

+ My usage has recently changed, I have just moved, I am about to move

My usage has changed

Yes we can switch you but please note our calculations might not be as accurate and your billing will reflect your current usage. Submitting frequent meter readings improves the accuracy of your suppliers billing.

I have moved / I am about to move

We need to review your first bill before we can switch you. Please sign up and send us your first bill. These are normally quarterly. If you provide us with your current supplier login details we will download your bill for you.

+ How Glow Save selects your best rate

We take your annual kilowatt hour usage, and compare the rates you're paying with the best fixed rates on the market. We take your information from a recent energy bill. The bill can be shared by:

  1. Supply us with your Supplier login details (if you don’t have one, we can create one for you) and we will then download your most recent bill each time for you.
  2. Email your latest bill to admin@glowsave.com

Please note that estimations are less accurate than real usage. Our calculations always assume that your balance is settled after 12 months.

Exit fees

When we switch you, you may have to pay exit fees to your old supplier. We take this account when calculating your savings. Our stated savings are the total the amount you will save, including the exit fee cost; though the exit fees will have to be paid separately. Some exit fees are not payable in the last 40 days of the tariff. If we switch you to a tariff that has exit fees, and we switch you again further down the line, it is because they were offering the best rate and you're saving more money with the new supplier even after the exit fees have been deducted.

We can access every tariff in the market with all 52 suppliers. Other service providers are limited to offering rates from only the suppliers that pay them a commission. Not us as we do not receive any commissions and are only paid by our membership.

+ Reviewing your current tariff

Review your current tariff at any point by logging into your supplier; it is your account and the login details will be the same as those you provided when first registering to Glow Save.

+ Cancelling a switch

If you want us to cancel a new switch please let us know within 14 days of being notified. If you are not happy with a new supplier let us know and we will switch you again at no extra cost. Please note we may require your assistance in order to cancel a switch.

After the 14 day period, canceling a switch is far more difficult, so the sooner you let us know the better.

+ Collection of details at sign up

Energy tariffs are constantly changing, and some expire soon after we have checked the market for your best rate. To secure your best savings we have to be able to quickly switch onto the tariff we have selected.

+ Canceling a Glow Save account

You can unsubscribe yourself at any time.

If you do decide to cancel Glow Save, you will remain on the last tariff we switched you to. This Supplier will continue to provide your energy as normal and you can remain with them or switch yourself as before.

+ Glow Save refunds

We always consider refunds, please contact us.

+ Am I due a refund from my old Supplier?

After your switch your old supplier will send you a final bill. The bill is for your actual usage,(your new supplier will send your meter reading to your original supplier as part of the switching process).

If your account is in credit when the final payment is taken, your former supplier will refund you the difference.
