Frequently asked questions

+ How does Glow Save auto-switch my tariffs?

Complete our short form (once) after receiving your best tariffs and we can process your switches for you.

We will pull your future energy usage directly from your new suppliers so you don't need to do a thing.

+ How do I pay to auto-switch?

We use Paypal to process the £25 switching fee, upon receipt we auto-switch you to your quoted tariffs. Likewise when we offer to switch you when your tariffs expire, the £25 payment is made through Paypal again.

+ How does Glow Save continue to save me money every year?

Suppliers move their customers on to expensive standard variable tariffs when fixed tariffs expire. By keeping our clients on their best fixed rates we save our clients hundreds of pounds every year.

+ What are phony energy savings?

Most suppliers and comparison sites calculate your current fixed rate by:

Multiplying your remaining contract months at your existing rate, and adding the additional months needed to estimate your annual consumption at the default, more expensive standard variable rate. This overestimates your existing tariffs cost and enables them to claim large but unfortunately phoney savings when they switch you.

These savings are misleading as you do not save the amount claimed. We compare your actual 12 month fixed rate to the new best rate, and calculate your real savings. Simple.

+ The difference between Glow Save and price comparison sites

Price comparison sites offer tariff lists for you to compare. They take up to £60 in commission for each switch, which you still have to do. Glow Save finds your best tariffs every year and processes your switches for you. Unlike similar services we are not paid by suppliers and only work for you.

+ The difference between Glow Save and switching sites

Most switching sites are owned by price comparison sites. They often only provide tariffs from a limited number of suppliers who have paid to feature. Glow Save is 100% independent which means we can access every rate in the market. As we are not paid by suppiers we only work for you.

+ The difference between Glow Save and Utility Warehouse

Utility Warehouse "guarantee you will save money compared to the average of the cheapest variable tariffs available from the 'big 6' suppliers". As these are the most expensive tariffs in the market this average is far higher than available fixed rates.

Glow Save checks the whole market and switches you to your best fixed tariffs, maximising your savings.

+ How does Glow Save select my best tariffs?

We take your annual kilowatt hour usage, and compare the rates you're paying with the best fixed rates on the market.

Please note that estimations are less accurate than real usage. Our calculations always assume that your balance is settled after 12 months.

We only switch to tariffs with suppliers that satisfy our requirements. We check the company’s financials, officers and customer review information.

+ Suppliers Glow Save can switch to

We can access every tariff in the market with all 52+ suppliers. Other service providers are limited to offering rates from only the suppliers that pay them a commission. Not us as we do not receive any commissions and are only paid by our membership.

+ Never Switched?

Not a problem. Here is what you need to know:

  1. Switch when you want. We don't need to wait for your current tariff to expire.
  2. Your energy supply won't be disconnected. Switching energy tariffs won't leave you without electricity or gas. Your current supplier will continue to supply your energy until your new supplier seamlessly takes over. The only change will be smaller bills.
  3. No new meter, works or connection visit required. Your current energy meter will do just fine.

+ Green tariffs

We can switch you to green / renewable tariffs. Simply let us know and we will select a green tariff for you. Please note these are more expensive than standard tariffs.

+ Excluding suppliers

Let us know at sign up and we won't include them in our search.

+ How do I review my new tariffs?

Review your tariffs at any point by logging into your supplier; it is your account and the login details will be the same as those you submitted to Glow Save.

+ Am I due a refund from my old supplier?

After your switch your your new supplier will share your opening meter reading with your old supplier as part of the switching process. Your old supplier will use the meter reading to calculate your final bill.

If your account is in credit when the final payment is taken, your old supplier will refund you the difference.

+ Cancelling a switch

If you want us to cancel a new switch please let us know within 14 days of being notified. If you are not happy with a new supplier let us know and we will switch you again at no extra cost. Please note we may require your assistance in order to cancel a switch.

After the 14 day period, canceling a switch is far more difficult, so the sooner you let us know the better.

+ Can I go back to switching my own tariffs?

If you no longer want to use Glow Save, you will remain on the last fixed tariff we switched you to. When your tariff expires your supplier will move you on to their standard variable tariff.

The supplier will continue to provide your energy as normal and you can remain with them or switch yourself as before.

+ Glow Save refunds

We always consider refunds, please contact us.
